Creative Exploration in a Rich Environment
For most of the day, children choose from a variety of materials and activities selected to promote healthy physical, mental, social and emotional development. Children are exposed to language and literacy every day through books and music. Weather permitting, the children spend time outside every morning and afternoon enjoying activities such as riding, climbing, throwing and catching, balancing, swinging, digging, gardening, and chasing. Becoming a Friend Teachers provide continuous guidance for toddlers' social interactions including how to acknowledge and express emotions, how to take turns, how to use words to solve problems, and how to become sensitive to the feelings of others. Staying Connected Parents can check updates and message teachers throughout the day using the Brightwheel app. We help each child create a family/home photo book to keep in the classroom. Moving and Playing
Teachers ensure the classroom has materials that support free play with the understanding that children this age learn through moving. We also offer teacher-planned and teacher-led small group activities such as art, sorting, counting, and baking that children can join if they want. |
