Rainbow Room: for 2s & young 3sIt is fascinating to watch the children communicate any way they can and realize that even children who hear different languages at home learn to communicate here at school, with us and their little friends, even if once in a while, they can get frustrated. Young children seem to find a way, and learn so quickly!
So there is a lot of language acquisition going on in this room, and it happens very fast, starting with comprehension, before they start using new words, then groups of words, in short and eventually longer sentences. Our approach for learning is play-based, and we believe that the children’s play influences all domains of development including physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional. Children learn through play, which is a powerful learning tool enabling them to grow and develop a life-long love of learning. Therefore, we let a lot of time open for children to freely explore their surroundings, and we offer our guidance when needed. We also offer a range of activities that they can join if they express interest in them, at times based on lessons plans, which will cover different concepts and competencies, implemented and facilitated with our encouragement and supportive practices. These hands-on activities include art, music and movement, counting, sorting, building with blocks, stories and questions, and last but not least, ongoing teaching and learning about social interactions including how to acknowledge and express emotions, how to take turns, how to use words to solve problems, and how to become sensitive to the feelings of others. |
